Welcome to CoreMind
CoreMind helps organisations with the following needs:
- Individuals, micro & small businesses with less than 5 staff looking for cheap, reliable small-scale IT systems and break-fix support.
- Businesses with 5-20 staff looking for affordable, no-nonsense IT Systems with focused investment on central systems and heading towards workstation standardisation and management.
- Mid-size businesses with 20-100 staff looking for efficient systems to drive increased employee productivity and operational effectiveness with a particular focus on scalability & prevention before cure. Workstation standardisation (SOE) and management is a must here in order to avoid firefighting.
- Large businesses with 100-250 staff looking for a multi-staff outsourced IT Department solution with or without internal low-level support staff.
- Businesses with internal or existing IT staff looking for expert assistance in the areas of IT Direction, Project Management, Software Development/Integration and particularly Linux Servers.
- Businesses in need of assistance due to other IT providers giving up (happens a lot!), ripping you off, overpromising and underdelivering or generally not performing. N.B. To be fair to our profession, this is often a problem caused by the terms of engagement not just the provider. We make sure to explain exactly what you will be getting, the costs and risks involved and how to most effectively and efficiently meet your business objectives before we start work. In our view it is other providers' continual failure to do this that causes problems and results in IT people being given (often justifiably!) a bad name.
- Businesses of any size with significant operational, communication or strategic challenges (and often all three) looking for transformative change through the intelligent application of custom software integrations or developments. Our target here is a minimum 5x Return on Investment before a custom intervention is warranted, but this is often easily achieved by our efficient agile development methodology and ability to reign in the scope of the project to solve the real business problem.
We do perform other services where the potential for mutual benefit exists. Please see our capabilities section for a more detailed overview of our technical capabilities and get in contact with us to discuss your particular project or ongoing support requirement.
Our Approach
We believe our approach is unique in the IT Service Industry. Skipping the jargon, we do all of the following with vigour and passion:
- invest more than 20% of our time in real-world practical ongoing education and training for our staff
- investment a further 20% of our company's resources in new product development and internal systems improvement to provide you with better products and services. We are genuinely truly innovative, creating solutions nobody has ever done before.
- avoid 'gamey' marketing, sales & communication tactics - we tell it how it is
- encourage, participate in and stoke a culture of excellence - our staff and our systems are our business
- make the call early on the right way to solve problems. Often ejecting early (and cheaply) is the right call. Whilst we can 'go deep' (and far deeper than most providers), choosing when to is the most critical support decision we can make. This is the primary way you get to have both awesome and cheap IT. If this is no good for you, you can have awesome and expensive, but that's not the default way we operate nor the way most of our clients prefer.
- have a Senior IT Manager constantly monitor the support being provided by our staff and intervene if something can be done better or a more systemic solution found. Most other companies act as glorified labour hire providers, but our support is backed by the skills and experience of highly experienced and qualified senior support personnel with combined IT & business skills, without the pricetag.
- perform after hours installation & maintenance activities wherever possible (and in practice, nearly all the time) in order to provide maximal business hours uptime. We have often been working through the night or up until the wee hours. And we back it up with 9am support availability the next day. We're made of tough stuff.
- avoid unnecessary expenditure and focus - we have crappy offices but awesome monitors. We have a crappy website but build awesome technical systems. We focus on what's important and ignore the rest. We encourage you to do the same. Mediocirity is the path to extinction.
- we plan and act for the long term - our planning horizon is measured in years, not months. This gives us the ability to execute on long-term consistent and successful strategies both for ourselves and our clients.
- We don't always answer the phone. WHAT?! That's right, we don't optimise for answering the phone on the first ring or all sorts of other dubious metrics other companies use to convince themselves (and maybe you) how great they are. We measure our success by the growth and profitability of our clients' businesses, not by how quickly a receptionist or low-level employee with no knowledge of your systems or ability to fix anything picks up the phone. We do offer phone support, and we do have multiple support staff on hand who are able to provide assistance. But first and foremost we are focused on designing and implementing high quality information systems that fail less in the first place so you don't need to call. We also provide sophisticated monitoring solutions as part of our standard packages that alert us to most problems well before they happen. In the event that something slips through the cracks, we provide a dedicated priority support number our clients can ring to sound the general alarm in the event of an actual emergency. Our phone system does all sorts of fancy stuff then to track us down whether we're at home,
Whilst we recognise some people enjoy the dopamine rush that comes with constantly harassing a service provider until they jump, we don't work that way. Our business is built on long-term mutual success and we'd rather avoid the pain of working for the wrong people upfront.
